County Coordinator

The County Coordinator position at the Plumas County Fire Safe Council strengthens countywide wildfire mitigation, preparedness, and collaboration efforts by serving as a central coordination and capacity-building role. This position supports local wildfire mitigation practitioners, improves communication and resource sharing among partners, and advances strategic, county-level wildfire resilience planning. The County Coordinator builds on prior County Coordinator funding cycles to ensure continuity, alignment, and long-term effectiveness of wildfire mitigation efforts across Plumas County.

Current initiatives supported through the County Coordinator position include:

  • Maintaining and regularly updating a countywide census of active wildfire mitigation groups, including Fire Safe Councils, Firewise communities, fire departments, and partner organizations
  • Supporting coordination and collaboration among wildfire mitigation partners, including local, tribal, state, federal, nonprofit, and private entities
  • Analyzing gaps in countywide wildfire resilience and emergency preparedness and developing recommendations to address identified needs
  • Strengthening outreach, communication, and information-sharing mechanisms among wildfire mitigation stakeholders
  • Providing technical assistance to local practitioners to support project development, capacity building, and resource sharing
  • Supporting alignment of countywide wildfire mitigation priorities, strategies, and funding efforts
  • Assisting with data collection, reporting, and documentation to support grant compliance and program evaluation
